Nah this is just for the people who want it to be bittersweet. It doesn't make a massive difference as far as Geralt and Yen would be concerned. They would perhaps just see her a little less. The witcheress ending is far more realistic to the characters, choices and story arc. Geralt has to be a dick to Ciri for her to end up as Empress.
